GCSE HANDLING DATA COURSEWORK LOOK AT ME

Mr Allan’s cunningly curious and captivating cogitation, consisting of a carnivorous checklist of coursework content
Questions To ask yourself about your coursework (by no means definitive)

Plan
Have you said……….
What your project’s about
What your hypotheses are
How you are going to test these hypotheses
How you will pick your data (how many, sampling method )
How you will make it fair
What maths you are going to do AND WHY YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT
What maths you aren’t going to do AND WHY NOT
Any problems you think you may run into, how you are going to solve them (find some!)

The maths
Have you included (where appropriate)
Tables
Charts
Averages
IQR
Box plots
Stem& leaf
Standard deviation
Cumulative frequency
Histograms
Comparative Pie Charts
Scatter graph
Spearman’s rank
Product Moment correlation coefficient
Any of these you haven’t included you need to mention why

The Write Up
No graph must be without a comment about what it shows and what it means about your investigation (e.g “bigger IQR on box plot so boys test scores are more spread out”, rather than just “boys have bigger IQR”)
No calculation must be without comment on what it means to your investigation

EVERYTHING related back to your hypotheses

What improvements could you have made?
Are your results significant?
Are your results reliable?

That’s all I can think of for now I might put some more on later

Mr A :-)

Thankyou!
You've been a great help but I was wondering if you could explain some of the parts, such as Spearman’s rank and Product Moment correlation coefficient in more detail as I haven't been taught any of this and I really want to get a decent mark on this coursework.
